• Optimize Data Management With GS1 US APIs

Access Enterprise Capabilities and Integrate Product Data Directly Into Your System

Why Use GS1 US APIs?

Validate Third-Party Data

Ensure products and locations have valid Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) and Global Location Numbers (GLNs), following GS1 Standards, are licensed by the correct company, and have an active GS1 license to prevent counterfeit and GTIN® hijacking.

Search in Bulk

Look up and retrieve GTIN/GLN data individually or in bulk along with their attributes to ensure accurate information for supply chain transactions and inventory management.

Stay Compliant

Quickly find GLNs for multiple addresses to share with trading partners, which can help follow regulatory rules that require strict documentation and traceability.

Automatically Ingest & Update

Identify and get alerts for third-party GLN/GTIN record edits to keep data current in your system while avoiding manual lookups and time-consuming follow-ups.

Assign and Share

Quickly assign your GTINs by leveraging your data management automations and share this data with trading partners without one-to-one connection.

Service Customers Better

GS1 US Solution Partners can assign or search GTINs and GLNs on behalf of their customers and return the results inside their systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an API?

API stands for Application Programming Interface. It's a piece of technology that allows two different systems to talk to each other, for example GS1 US and your product management system. They talk to each other in specialized formats, such as JSON, which is a human readable format that allows data to be transferred in a standardized way. This is especially important since the data in GS1 US systems have a particular sequence and need to follow the GS1 Standards/data model.

What’s on the GS1 US Developer Portal?

The GS1 US Developer Portal gives access for GS1 US API subscribers to learn about everything that they can do with their GS1 US APIs, get their unique API keys, use the “Try Out” functionality, and get all the API detailed documentation.

How do GS1 US APIs work with my system?

GS1 US APIs operate under the OpenAPI (or OData) Standards and results are represented in JSON formats. They include a “Try It” and search functionality, so you can try an API call before building your API.
